Vow heritage is not naturally possessed, but is gained culturally; it does not become yours by inheriting it, but also for every physical descendant, gained only by acquiring it along the road of receptive commitment, conscious acceptance, principle decision, persevered appropriation, anxious identification.
Then it becomes in the course of time second nature; but exactly so every morning delightfully new, touchingly pretty, overwhelmingly precious: a joyful, able-bodied, subservient, meaningful, merciful human, faithful Afrikaner-human, called Boere-Afrikaner-human!
The Vow People is never finished, finalised, completed. His existence is in the last instance nothing else but pure movement, single inspired voyage, a never completed eternity second of decision between a mighty calling deed of God on the road behind him and a mighty calling task entrusted to him over the horisons before him.
